Ouch...Don't strip it. I would add it to the family, if I could make payments. I want all the 48-56's I can find. I would love to get all the old trucks I could, just to save them from rust and the crusher.

Joe,
The way you are going you going to fill that 20 acres pretty quick! I wonder how long it will take to harvest once you get all 20 acres planted.

LOL. I don't know, I guess we'll just have to find out. I am hoping to fill it. We are planning to move out to it, hopefully this summer, or maybe next summer. The wifes dad and grandma live onit, and they are going to subdivide it to her and her two brothers. She told me that if I build her a 53-56 F-100, and we get moved out there, then I can have all the trucks I want. (I finally brought her to the darkside Bwahahaha).

Now that is a good woman, she's a keeper. My wife is pretty tolerant also (most of the time) I just got one truck out of the backyard so I'm doing pretty good

My wife thinks she wants something older to drive, but the reality of it might be a bit different..no power steering, no power brakes, no ac, vapor locking (yup, we have terrible fuels and tons of heat down here) She'd like it in the spring and fall though.

Father-in-law's working on deeding us a 5 acre spot on his 20 acres. Wife says after we get it and get moved out there, I get at least one acre for just the trucks (she don't know me that well do she). I figure I can have them parked side by side and bumper to bumper, with only a foot between them (that's a lot of trucks). Anyhow, I finally got a siren off ebay. It's a six volt long roll bullet shaped with a light in the front. It looks close enough to the original that know one will be the wiser. I couldn't swing the F-900 56 on rbay or the F-800 56 I saw also . Oh well. I still have a 54 F-750 on its way for free, and I found another '53 F-350 with flathead (runs) that'll be for parts. I still need to find info on the manufacturer of the fire body on my fire truck though. Any ideas? It's a "Fire Fighter Truck Company Rock Island, Illinois." I tried to find stuff out, but am getting no where.

Illinois has a history site, lady that supports the Rock Island part may be willing to help. The Fire Fighter Truck company is mentioned several places on the net, but I was not able to find anything out about the company itself. She might be able to get you dates and addresses, plus a story on what happened to it.

There is an email link to her on that page.

Hey thanks. And my father-in-law might be looking at your tech article after the holiday. His computer died, and I had to get him a new hard drive. He says he's been reinstalling and trying to recover everything he had, and should be done by Christmas. He'll probably look at it some time after that.

Well, how long can you wait for one? We are planning on going towards the east this spring or summer. Maybe a meeting are could be arranged. I think I may start taking trips that direction annually starting this spring or summer. After I get my F-800 semi project finished (which I just got offered a free flatbed trailer for it), I think I will be able to use it as a link for the FTE members in the east to the FTE members in the west. Maybe I'll start making that kind of arrangement for the club. I'll be the shipping apparatus for the members to swap and sell back and forth. Arrange multiple items going wither direction, and have members meet at key route intersections for delivery or drop off. Maybe go a northern route there and southern route back or something like that. Take a week or two off in the summer, and use it for delivery and pickup of items for the club members that are seperated by many OTR miles. Anyway, it's a good idea (maybe).

I saw another one on ebay today. It was a Lincoln Car engine with a hydromatic tranny behind it. I seem to remember it was in South Carolina but can't swear to it. Search for flathead lincoln.
