I have a 2002 F-250 SD with the 5.4L. I bought it a few months ago and it sounded a little "pingy" when I accelerate. I took it to a muffler shop and they said it was fine.
I took it in for the first oil change since I have had it... I had them check it over and they said my manifold is leaking on the right side where it bolts to the motor.
Is this common? What would cause it? The truck just turned 50.. In fact it has 50,025.
I had an estimate for like 250-275 parts and labor to R&R. Sound reasonable?
Would I be better ahead to just buy some headers and have those put on? Would it make that much of a difference in the way the truck performs? How about mileage? What is a good brand?
Just thinking.. If I am going to have them working on the manifolds.. Maybe it would be smarter to have them install headers... Let me know.
