Holiday Season 'Down Under'
I was wondering what it's like during Holiday Season in Australia. I know the seasons are 'reversed'. Do you celebrate Christmas?
I had never really thought about it, but a post in the 6.0 section brought this to mind. Big350, what do you do for the Holidays?

Yes we celebrate Christmas (Like the US, our holidays were initially based around Christian religious events)
The holiday season here is a little different.
As Summer (the old harvest season) coincides with Christmas the longest school break is then, and it is the change of acedemic years, so school is out for 2 months as well.
The "traditional Australian" thing to do over the Christmas break is to take the immediate family to the beach for a few weeks, go swimming, surfing and fishing.
Its not exactly a "White Christmas" here...

No White Christmas here either, and on a few occasions it's also been warm enough for a dip in the swimming pool and/or surfing.

In 1988 during the Winter Olympics in Feb 1988 , They had to Truck snow in from the mountains to hold certain events because the temp skyrocketed .
