Have a 2002 F350 Dually. Mods include 4"exhaust to Aero Turbine to 5" stacks,
K&N cold air intake with TAG system, Performance turbo wheel, 18K Steroid mod, Sonnex valves in tranny, Superchips tuner. Towing 35' fifth wheel, truck died, read code P340, P1211 and P603. Got started made it to dealership, they replaced CPS. Drove exactly 1.7 miles and with no warning engine quit, no lites, no code but 3 quarts low on oil. Towed to dealership they investigated and said it was 18k Mod. Disconnected same, replaced oil filter, tightened some oil lines and truck started. Drove exactly 5.7 miles same out come, except this time got an engine lite and only P603 code. Would not start but would crank like a champ. Towed back to dealership (geting tired of that). Is this now a fuel problem??? Seems that if truck sits over nite it starts. Waiting to hear from dealership now. Please help. Thanks
The 0603 code is from the superchips tuner. First I would reload the stock program on it, if the dealer hasn't already reflashed the pcm.
The 1211 code was from the 18k mod and the fact that it was 3 quarts low on oil, these trucks won't run when they are low, because the injectors are fired by hpop.
I would wait to see what the dealership says, and when they tell you that you need a new set of injectors, kindly tell them you will be down you pick up your truck and for them not to do anything else to it.
Then find someone local who has a good rep with powerstrokes and take it to him. Where are you located at?
Just outside Reading, Pa. Thanks for geting back so quickly. This is the first and hpefully last problem I'm going to have. I'll be traveling soon and don't need to be out in the middle of nowhere. Shouldn't the extended warrenty pay for injectors? The Service Manager at the dealership used to be their diesel mechanic and he was extremely good at what he does. But in the ineterest of good sense I most assuradly will get a second opinon.
I'm saying its not the injectors at all, what I am trying to say is they will start throwing parts at it to attempt to fix it, instead of figuring out what is wrong with it in the first place.
Just got news from dealersship and he said it was ICP problem. Either 1 of 2 problems 1 - ICP is bad because of low oil pressure to injectors or 2 - Ford engines a picky about type of oil used. I thought that Rotella was best but he says not necessarily - it can produce foaming. Ford motor oil is best for the 7.3. Anyone agree with this????
If the dealership is so sure that it's the oil, tell them that they can change it, but you'll not pay them for it until you can say FOR SURE that it fixed your problem. Let them put their money where their mouth is. Let them take some risk. Don't let them do anything more than change the oil, though, to insure that's what fixes it.
Otherwise, they're just guessing at what the problem is, and will continue to throw your money at it until they fix it, you get disgusted and leave, or you're broke.
Lotsa' folks here use Rotella with good success. Shell would have a difficult time believing they make an oil that is no good in Internationals. So would I.

Do you in fact have a Superchip? I see that that is one of you codes. If that is the case, remove it and go back to stock. I had mine quit the same way and the chip had gone bad. Superchips replaced it, and I am back to happy times. Oil causing the engine to just shut off like you turned the key off????? I don't thinks so. Oil causing the motor to shut down and never turn over again..............YES.....but not just shut down everything and start again a few hours later.
I Don't Know What It Is Causing Your Problem.
But I Do Know That It Is Not The Oil Your Using That Is Causing Your Problem.
I,ve Been Using Rotella For Almost Five Years And Have Never Had A Problem With It.
Now...i've Heard Of An Engine Being So Low On Oil That It Would Give You Starting / Running Problems And There Are Some Oils That Will Foam Up And Give You Problems.......but Not With Rotella.
I'm With Markadeck On May Be Going Back To Stock And Seeing If The Problem Is Still There.....maybe The Problem Is In The Superchips Tuner.
But I Would Certainly Go To A Different Dealership After Hearing The Line Of B S You've Been Told About Your Oil Being The Problem.
Dealership listened to my mechanic about the oil thing and quickly apologized for an obvious screw up. Especially when it left them high and dry on a major highway. They are now eyeing the ICP and a possible oil pump malfunction. At least my mechanic is keeping them straight. Thanks for hanging in there with me as I told my mech that I was chating with you all. I already informed the dealership that I was going to scrutinze the bill. This should all be covered under warrenty or I am going to go to Ford with this. Took out Superchips program and will not reinstall but problem still exists. Had trouble with program in past. Superchips supposedly fixed and returned but still won't use it any longer. Thanks again and I'll be sure to let you all know what was found.

Mechanic called and said truck was fixed. He said that it had died twice on him while trying to figure out what was wrong. He stated that he found at least one or more injectors on right bank were sticking open causing an oil pressure drop on all the injectors causing engine to shut down. They replaced all the injectors on the right side and truck has run 50+ miles so far and no problem. Does this sound right to you all????
