Hey guys I'm confused on how to plug the warn hubs I just installed on my 2002 4x4 7.3 Automatic transmission. I saw a link where it is advised to plug the red line that comes from the pump. And some people say to cut the black line near the shock and plug it from there. Sorry for the retarded episode, I'm confused on how to properly plug the lines. Does anyone have any pics on how to do this? Thanks
I'm not sure what you mean by 'plug the Warn hubs' but if you had the vacuum-actuated hubs from an ESOF system, disconnect the the hose at the spindle and insert a caulk-covered screw of the appropriate size in the end, and tuck the hose inside the frame and/or zip-tie it securely. Now your ESOF system will pull a solid vacuum against a sealed line and nothing will happen - just the way it should be. By not cutting the factory lines, it is one day easily reversible should anyone (oddly) ever want to put ESOF hubs back on it.
Then, put a vacuum cap over the spindle hose fitting to keep dirt out, or run a vent tube (piece of vacuum line) high up inside the engine compartment, if you prefer to let the hub cavity breathe with changing pressure/temperature conditions. You may put a fuel filter on the end of this to keep stray dirt out of the hose.
There are other ways to plug the lines and cap off the spindle tip, but this is what I did.
