I just had the rr axle seal replaced on my 2000 EB, 56k miles on it. The dealer replaced the fluid (of course). Lately, seems to be noticeable chattering coming from rear when launching into turn from stop, but only for a little bit. Parts list shows they put in the friction modifier.
Should I switch to synthetic? If so, do you still have to add the friction modifier to it?
Yes, calls for 75-140 synthetic plus a tube of friction modifier for the rear, have you changed your transfer case fluid lately? Might be a problem there as well..

Dealer SHOULD have used synthetic fliud. Since you had it done at the dealer take it back and have them fix it. Or, you might need to add just a tad bit more friction modifier to it.

You will not get chatter out of a transfer case... just howling when the gear faces wear off and screaming when the bearings are about to seize.
