Instrument Cluster Question...

I like the style of the 2003 and up instrument cluster compared to the one in my 2002 Explorer. Would it be a direct swap to change them out?

In case anyone else is wondering about the swap...no joy! The circuit boards are different on the back.

And they are very different in 2006. Starting in 2006 everything electrical that is a display, sensor, or actuator is interconnected with a CAN network. There is a second separate CAN network for accessories. I think Ford deserves some credit in this area. They leaped headlong into this technology a couple of years ahead of when it will actually be required.
