The headliner on my 1978 Lariat I recently purchased was perfect with the exception of a bulge in one area. I removed the trim and placed the headliner on a flat surface with some strategically placed wait and now it's back to perfect (which is great since it is a rare Lariat headliner).
However, now I'm having issues re-installing the headliner. Specifically, the screws that hold the headliner into place won't screw back into the slotted sheetmetal of the roof correctly. They won't grab right. Has anyone else had this problem? What's the best way to get the old screws to work without moving to a bigger screw?
The slots are probably egged out too much for the screw to grip. You could use larger screws or try to use a mini adjustable plier to squeeze the slot back down.
