I'm looking for a set of new tires for winter driving, and since I live in the Seattle area, I need wet traction more than anything else. (Realized that after a bit of hydroplaning tonight )
The attributes I'm looking for in order of importance:
a) excellent wet traction and ability to channel water away
b) reasonably good traction on packed snow and ice (I travel to eastern WA quite often)
c) little road noise and good mpg
What tires would you recommend? The size I need is 31x10.50, though I'm thinking about buying a set of 16" wheels with 5 x 5.5", and get LT245/75R16 instead, though they not always available in C.
having lived in the puget sound for years i would recommend BF GOODRICH all terrains .excellant on snow and ice over in eastern wa. and good tread life, low noise and good on wet surfaces.give the guys at 4 wheelparts a call .sometimes they have some good specials
I'd second either of the tires choices above. I've run both on other trucks I've had and both were great. The BFG's got better wear and were better in the snow. The Dueller's were quieter and were better in the rain. Both were great tires though.
I had them in Upstate NY, so they saw every kind of weather imagineable.
Good choice, you won't be disappointed. The only better tires for rain are Goodyear Assurance Aquatred, but those are for cars. Living in the PNW I've tried many for wet conditions.
