My Bronco was very hard to start for two days then would not start at all. I've replace the pump assembly in the tank, the inline pump, filter and regulator. I'm fireing at the end of the compression stroke. Both pumps run for about a second when i turn the key on, but i don't seem to be getting much pressure out of the fuel rail, it just squirts a little fuel out and thats it. I've tried a little starting fluid, but it has'nt hit not one time sense i pulled it into the carport. When i pulled one of the plugs out it was wet, but it was fireing pretty hot. What could it be?
Fuel does'nt spray out before, during, or after i crank the engine. Both pumps run for a second when you turn the key on, not sure about while cranking, and i do not hear them as i stop cranking. I'll get the codes this evening and let you know.
If it's not trying to fire when you spray starting fluid into the throttle body make me question if the ignition timing off. Is the distributor loose by chance?
also just a note. if you are getting pressure, and have spark but still no go.. on the passenger side fender there is a relay that controls the injectors, and one for the pumps, i would check those to make sure that the injectors are getting power.
My codes are 14 loss of (pip). 18 loss of tach signal.32,and 51. Sounds like a timming issue now. But i'm still not getting fuel pressure at the fuel rail, i have'nt bought a guage yet, but it is'nt comeing out of the valve with any pressure behind it. Could the computer keep it from building pressure while the pumps are running? Is thier any other way to check the distibutor.
I'm sure there are other possible causes, but a CM 14 and CM 18 are what my BII outputs when the TFI module cuts out on me. Ken00 has posted instruction (in the Tech info thread) for testing the TFI module. Might be worth the time to check.
Would the module be out and still have hot fire? If it fires at the top of the compression stroke, could it be out of time enough that it would not hit on starting fluid? Thanks guys.
when you turned the distributer, did you have to turn it much? or just a few degrees, the reason im asking is that something simular happend to my best friends 66 mustang and the ultimate culprit was the gear on the distributer was eaten nearly slam up by the cam.
With the key on and the pumps quit running, i turned it all the way to the left and the pumps would kick on for a second like i had turned the key on. Cranked it and it started right up. Still does'nt spray fuel out that valve, but it runs great so far. I had the dist. out about three months ago and it all looked fine.
