91 Ranger Engine pulling...

Well I think that after 308,000 miles, its gettin about time to take the old 2.3 out, and put another one in. I have one out back with about 100,000 miles on it, all it needs is a head gasket and the parts back that I robbed off of it for the one thats in my truck now. Question is, how hard is it? Is it a 2 person job? Or could me and the ol cherry picker do it ourselves? Looks like all I need to do is unbolt a bolt on each side, and unbolt the tranny, and unhook all the wiring and fuel lines and etc. Any advice?

Well if the tranny is still good, unhook everything and you can pull it right out. Shouldn't give you too much trouble, just be slow and careful.

If you are going to do it, at least put in a new clutch disc. If not PP/to bearing. If you pull the trans with the engine, it will pee grease out the rear end when you jack it up, but it sure is a lot easier to re-attach the trans when it is out in the open. BUT, you have to disconnect the shift lever. I have done them where I left the shift lever hanging and disconnected it from the top of the trans housing. Make sure if you do that, you put it in 4th gear so you can rotate the input shaft from the back end easily when aligning the clutch disc.
The slave cylinder is a bear to bleed, from what I hear.
