clunk clunk
Driving down a gravel road today hauling 16 wooden pallets on a utility trailer.I hit a pothole and instantly I get a continious clunk clunk noise from my rear end.I unhitch the trailer to elimanate it as the source.I drive slowly and the continious clunk clunk is still there.I decide I better get it back into the city which is 15 miles away.On the way back the clunk noise disappears.In the city I drive around trying to listen and can only hear the noise slightly once in awhile.The u joints are farely new with no more than 5000 kms on them.Could I have knocked my driveshaft out of balance or what?

you would have to bend the prop shaft to knock it oout of balance then you woul always have a problem. recheck your u joints. kind a sounds like something in the rear end if you ask me. May want to drain it and check for metal fragments. if there are you need to fix in a hurry.
