Cold smoke from a powerstroke, could be normal. I have personally never ever seen my 04 smoke ever and that was even on a 0 degree day. You may have an injector on the way out (but I think that missing cylinders from bad injectors throw trouble codes) or mabey it is something to do with the EGR valve who knows. I say if it clears up after a minute or so and tows good keep your eye on it and leave it alone!
Hey, I take it back, I used to see some smoke when it was really cold, but that was a couple of flashes (calibration changes) ago.

I live in Wisconsin - when it's cold - we all smoke a little on start-up. I'd only be concerned if you were white-smoking after you've warmed up. Then, yes, it is possible an injector is going bad. White-smoke is usually a sign of moisture in the system.

Also this just might be condensation in the exhaust burning off. I've had this on some very moist mornings and would clear up after exhaust got a little heat to it. How does it run? If ok then I wouldn't worry too much.

Truck runs fine, had some warranty work done in August since then no issues. This is my first Diesel, so I am full of all kinds of questions. I notice that when the truck is plugged in at night it does not smoke at all. When it is not the smoke only lasts a second or two. Thanks for the info.
