rear seat belt removal
Hello,
I am installing covers on the rear seats (Screw) and need to remove the seat belt somehow to slide through the elastic holder on the cover. I have the back removed and out of the truck so the bolt behind the seat is easy to access. The problem is that it is torqued on there so hard that I can't seem to remove it, (I understand why) I'm just wondering if anybody else found a solution to getting at least one end of the belt off so it can be rethreaded through the elastic on the seat covers. Thanks
Mike

Presuming That You Mean The Middle Seat Belt...
...you can separate the lap and shoulder pieces by using the very small release latch. On the curved side of the black plastic piece where the belts meet, there is an indententation. Your thumb sort of naturally goes in that when you grab the buckle. On the rim which separates that from the rest of the plastic piece, you should see, or perhaps feel, a small groove - about 1/8" wide and I guess 3/8" long. Your key goes in that and pops the two belts apart.
This is covered in your owner's manual for the 2005. It might be in the front seat section rather than in the back. If you have a console, you might not think to look at that part of the manual.
In my regular cab, the groove is easily visible because there is a red plastic latch inside it. I believe one previous poster found that it was black in the rear seat belt, making it more than a little bit difficult to see.
Good luck,
