Flatdeck swapover

I found a nice flatdeck on an early 80's 1/2 ton 4x4 rc lb truck and i am wondering if it will bolt up to a 78 1/2 ton 4x4 rc lb truck. Are the rear of the frames close? I'm pretty sure ive seen pictures of trucks with the 80s boxes on the 73-9s so i figure they must be fairly similar. Any help would be great. thanks.

I assume by "flat-deck" you mean "flat-bed" and since Ford only installed aftermarket flat-bed/stake-bed's on F350 and larger trucks, any bed on a 1/2 ton was "custom" installed. You may well be aware of that and to answer your question, I measured a 80's F150 SWB 4x4 to compare to my 1979 F150 short-wheelbase 4x4 and other than the front two frame mounting holes (for the style-side box) being in a slightly different location than the other four holes, I could see very little difference in the frames. I believe the shock-absorber mounts were different also.

Thanks for the info. It is a home built steel flatbed with headache rack. It would be really nice if they were the same but if some holes are a little off i guess i can just build some new mounts on it.
