The mas airflow sensor is new, I cleaned the old one and still had the problem so I replaced it.
I took the truck in today to have the transmission checked the tranny guy( a trusted friend of a friend) said the problem was not the transmission. While at the dealership I decided to bite the bullet and take it back to the service department. The truck was only showing the same 2 lean codes, after running a driveability test they found that the fuel pressure while driving is dropping down to 6psi.
The are saying the fuel pump is bad.
Is it possible for the pressure to 40 psi with the key on truck off, 35 at idle, then drop to 6psi while driving.

You betcha.
At work the other day I had an F-150 that the pressure dropped to about 8 psi under load. The inlet screen on the pump was plugged, rusty water in the bottom of the tank. I cleaned out the tank, replaced the pump and fuel filter and it worked fine after that.
lean is mostly caused by a pluged air filter, unmetered air, low fuel pressure or a bad maf senser, since you changed it have good fuel pressure. and checked the rest. go back and carefully check all the vac. hoses for small crackes or being soft and check the intake manifold gaskets by spraying brake clean or carb cleaner at the gasket areas and around the hoses and see if it smooths out.
Just curious, you mention a clogged air filter. I have a nearly new K&N on my motorhome, and I've done the free cold air intake mod. so the entire air filter is open (not inside that stupid snorkle anymore). It's been on there for over a year now with no problems, and I've cleaned/oiled it 3 times now. The only time I've seen this service engine come on (and the P0171/P0174 codes) was last weekend driving home in rain. So, I am thinking that possibly my air filter may have gotten wet (since the opening in my slotted grill is about 12 inches from the air filter) which would have restricted the air flow and caused the PCM to go into a lean condition??? I will clean the filter again and re-oil, also change my PCV, clean the MAF, and recheck everything one more time, then go for the 3-4 drive cycles and see if the service light goes off. My engine seems to run and idle perfect, and power is good and this is towing a 4000lb. enclosed toy hauler.
