Intake leak?
All this started with gas smell coming out of engine bay (smell in cab too). I posted this under "Another gas smell" in the forum for fuel, carb, etc. Anyway, I ended up taking the truck to a local mechanic. Mechanic diagnosed it as some filth in the carb and setting of float. Well, after it came from mechanic, the smell reduced quite a bit, but not entirely. But it started idling bad. I am planing to take it back to the mechanic Monday, but decided to check for myself if there is any vacuum leak. So, I took a carb cleaner and sprayed it on the edge of the intake manifold (where intake and valve cover meet). When I spray it on the passenger side of intake, the truck revs up significantly. Not much on the driver's side. Can I diagnose this as a leaking intake?
Truck is 1979 Ford F100 with 302. Edelbrock 600cfm carb with electric choke.
