Hey there everyone. I purchaced a 96 F150 about three months ago. It has about 109,000 miles, runs and rides great after fixing the alignment, new tires, plugs and wires. The preveous owner clames he just replaced the slave? in the trasmission. I have noticed a low pitched squeaking every time I am in first gear with the clutch in or out, but never hear it while in nutral and moving. Does anyone know what the noise could be coming from?

Are you sure the sound does not happen when you push the pedal in on other shifts? I had a tranny that did it in first more than others for some reason but whenever I put the clutch pedal down it would also squeel. Found out it was the throwout bearing. BUt I am thinking maybe sychros. NOt sure so I would wait for some more knowledgable answers, but if your talking about a squell when you put your pedal down i would say throw out bearing.
It sounds more like a scratching on metal. It only happens when I am in gear usally 1st or 2nd and the sound goes away when I push the clutch in. Not sure if it does it in all of the gears. It's never loud, just an annoing. I have checked everything else: driveline, linkage...is there something I am missing?
I would drop it and check. You can't be positve unless you do, or somone else had the same exact problem, either way you or somone else will have to drop it and at least change parts if it come to that. I hate the idea of driving around with things like that. Could become even more expensive if somthing goes wrong or siezes up. Sorry to sound so negative.
