Fault codes 95 and 87
I am trying to fix a problem on my 91 F250 4x4 with 7.5L 460 engine. I get two codes, 95c Fuel pump secondary circuit fault, and 87c Primary fuel pump circuit fault.
The fuel pump relay was removed and a jumper wire in the connector when I bought the truck. I bought a new relay and put it in place and the truck then would not start. Put the jumper back in and the truck starts right up.
Any suggestions on where to start looking?
The EEC grounds one pin (Control Out)to turn the relay on, but it must have 12v on the other side (Control In). That would correspond to Relay Pin 85 (EEC/ground) and pin 86 (12v switched)
The other two pins are 30, which is Power IN (12v fused from battery) and 87 Power OUT which feeds the fuel pumps thrut he inertia switch.
Since it runs jumpered, I would think the problem lies in the control circuit/wiring. You're either not getting ground from the EEC, or not getting switched 12v which either comes from the Ign Sw, or the EEC Relay
Let us know what you find. Please note that the fuel pumps only run for a second or two when you turn the key to on so You'll need a second person to keep turning the key while you take voltages.
Cheers

oh well. At least time spent working on your truck or fishing is not counted against your life time.
