A4LD slipping
My son has an '87 Ranger with the 2.3 and A4LD. The tranny does not engage in R and D. When I shift to R I get high revs and very little movement. In OD it does fine in 1 and 2 but when it upshifts to D again high revs. I replaced the filter, with no improvement. Could it be the vacuum modulator? Also, if band adjustment is needed can that be done without dropping the tranny. I know the valve body is accessible by dropping the pan. Could that be where the issue is. I couldn't find anything that seemed to describe this issue on the forum, so I am just shooting some ideas out there. Any thoughts?
