Crank-crank-squeek...help!?

Crank-crank-squeek...help!?
I have a 87 fullsize 5.0 4x4 stick I just got and it ran 2 days. Now when I try to start it it goes crank-crank-squeek and conrinues this and won't start. I put the trans in N and the 4x4 in N to relieve stress, but not sure if it is the starter or trans. When I did drive it at 35mph the trans sliped out of gear, when I took foot off accel it would go back in gear but won't go any faster. Please Help! Thanks
