holly 4160 backfire

Heres the scenario,
1964 390 4V with 1970 Holley 4160 600 cfm. On the way to work, running 55-60 mph, the truck started to buck, like it was running out of gas. I thought it was fuel filter at first, then it really started to buck. Then it quit and I went another 2 miles, and the motor started to backire through the exhaust and carb. Pulled off the road and it idled fine. Waited for a while, revving the motor with no problems. No missing, knocking or leaks. Took off again, and after about 10 feet, started losing power, bucking again, and backfiring through carb and exhaust. Checked under hood again, and the fuel bowls and under hood is soaked with gas. It now has very little power (not drivable). The carb was rebuilt about 500 miles ago. No other issues with motor. Has ran fine since I've had this motor, 4,000 miles ago. The exhaust has always had a strong gassy smell. Could this be the Power Valve? Need new carb? It will start on first trun of key, but other than that, its parked. Just checked timing about 100 miles ago.
Thanks,
Before I go buy another Carb!

The power valve will make it run rich, but not spew fuel everywhere. Sounds like it is blowing fuel past the needle and seats causing it to flood.

I have to run 6psi to the carb to keep from blowing the fuel inlets open. Try installing an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
