Post Plugs gapped at 44?

Should the spark plugs on a 76' F150 360 be gapped at 44?

Plugs gapped at 44?

hi
no way i'd never gap them that wide! The only way, and i mean only way i'd gap them that wide is if you have a real mean coil on it. I have found that if you have a stock coil (weak) you should gap it about .36- .39. it will really run a lot better. Try it!

I agree with low boy. I have seen spark plugs gapped at 44 but only on a aftermarket ignition system. Stock is in the mid 30's.

If you have the Durafart ignition (which you should) gap ‘em at .044”. If you have points, .035".

BTW some of you guys are off a decimal point. .44” is almost half an inch.

Plugs gapped at 44?

hi
sorry about the decimal point! I know what the books say but from tinkering around with these old fords i know that it should be gaped down to .036-.038. If it is tooo wide you loose gas milage because the spark isn't hot enought and the if it is narrow it will not burn right either. So i have found a happy medium. even with new plugs cap rotor and or points you still don't get optimal spark. If you don't beleive me than try it for yourself.
