Hey,
The brakes are going out on my '03 4X4 SD. Called the Dealer for some parts info, specifically brake rotors, & they said that I could have one of 2 different types of rotors. What? Anyway, they claim that they're either "floating rotors" or...some other kind, can't rememeber what he said. He couldn't give me any other information about why there were differences, just that there were indeed 2 different types. I just wonder why there would be variations. Its a 2003 F250 5.4L SD CC LB FX4 Lariat pkg. Can someone help to enlighten me?
Thanks
gw
We sell the Powerslot rotors here at DPPI and they show two applications, one for the 1999 early truck and one for the late 1999 thru 2003 trucks. I think the parts guy might have misread the info as I haven't ever seen any second part numbers etc.
Hey you might want to check out the Powerslots anyway, they are the same or cheaper than the Ford parts and don't warp like the stock ones do either. Get them and a set of Hawk pads and you'll get much better braking performance and no warpage down the road. Call us if you have any questions etc.
Does the DRW have rotors that won't come off without taking the axle and wheel bearings out? Maybe that's what they meant by "floating" - the DRW has a "full-floating" rear end.
Don't know about DRW's but I specifically inquired about front rotors. I gave him the year, make, model, engine, trim, mileage, color, favorite radio station, (you get my point) and the clown still couldn't give me a straight answer. That's why I'm here....
To make a short story longer...I bought ART rotors & pads about 3 months ago. I'm just getting around to changing the brakes. Right now I don't have the time or probably the right tools to do the job myself so I called to see if Ford would do the labor only part of the brake job. They will. That's when he gave me labor quote(s) depending on which rotors the rig has. Now I'm wondering if I bought the right rotors or not.
Now that I think about it, even the guy at ART had a couple of part numbers to choose from when I ordered them. Does anybody out there know the "correct" p/n for ART front rotors? Maybe that'll help.

Post a new thread, titled "Correct part # for ART rotors?"
You'll get scads of answers, I'm sure...
Sorry I can't help further... I know I recently asked about front rotors for my '01 F250 SC SB 4x4, and got a solid answer the first time, that's from a local parts house. I was under the impression all rotors from at least 2000 up to 2004 were the same... Now I'm not so sure.
Did anyone ever find out more on the 2 front rotors?
I just purchased a set of Power Slots to replace a warped rotor on the front of my 2003 F250 4x4 V10 Crew Manual hubs. From the looks of it the rotors on my truck the rotor and the hub carrier are one piece. I have beat it pretty good and cannot see any movement. The more I look the more it seems to be a one piece affair.
The rotors are not part of the hub. 2003 rotors are a no brainer. they only make one for SRW trucks Front and rear are different of course! dealer shouldn't have any problems. Change rotors and pads and check everything 2 hours $200.00 max..
