I'm stationed in Korea so my resources are very limited.
I have a 1997 F150 that I purchased used.
It did not come with keyless remote Fobs but I was told that it has keyless entry because it has a security alarm light on the dash.
I ordered new fobs and researched the programming instructions.
The truck never seems to go into the program mode when I turn the key 5 times as directed. The alarm horn chirps once but that it. The locks don't cycle and the remote doesn't work.
Whats next? How can I check my truck to make sure it hase keyless remote?
How can I tell that it has not been disconnected?
I seem to have the exact same problem with my wife's 99 F150 Supercab. We bought the truck from a neighbor, who had purchased it used from Enterprise Leasing. He didn't get any remote key fobs when he bought the truck, nor later when he sold it to us. So I did the same thing you did ... I bought two new remotes, expecting to be able to program them to the truck. The owner's manual says it's equipped for remote entry ... and it has the SECURITY light on the dash ... but I too can't get the truck to respond to the key sequence (I think the door locks are supposed to signal that).
Where should I be looking, and for what ... to determine if the truck really is equipped for remote entry?
Seems like I remember reading somewhere that the "security module" (or whatever it's called) can be one of several locations under the driver's side of the dash ... but what it's supposed to look like, I haven't a clue!
