99 navigator 4x4 light flashing

99 navigator 4x4 light flashing

I just bought a 99 navigator and the 4x4 light is flashing, the switch is set on a4wd and when i set the switch to 4h or 4l the light turns off. I tried to get it into 4h or 4l but nothing happens the manual says when its in 4h or 4l the 4x4 light will be on . Then when i put it back to a4wd the 4x4 light starts flashing again. Has anyone ever had this problem or have any suggestions? Any help would be Great.

Also I did read alot of the forums here but it seemed peoples 4x4 light was flasing but they were still able to put it into 4wh and 4wl so since mine doesnt go into 4x4 at all does this mean its more then the sensors gone bad?

It sounds more like you have electric shift motor troubles. Buy a service CD off of ebay and get the parts to fix this yourself. It is a pain in the ****, but it will be nothing compared to having the dealer fix it. However, having the dealer diagnose the problem is helpful, just make sure to let them think you will let them fix it for you.
