all numbers have beeen on street tires. the dyno tech didn't think it would make much difference. There didn't appear to be any slipping. These guys are running hopped-up Vipers and Z06 vettes all day. There was a brand new 06 Z06 (yes, the 505hp stocker) waiting for the dyno.

really seems to be something in the ignition that was starting to go bad last week, but is getting worse every time I run it. So, the plugs are a good, cheap reasonably easy thing to replace.

Hey, what plugs am I supposed to run on the Edel heads? I keep forgetting the part number. I know it' not the 45s. BTW, I've got a full set of 45s for one of you Iron head guys if you need them (brand new, just cover shipping cost).

I think I was a bit closer.... By 3 hp!

I run Autolites in my race car ebok's. 3935? sumthinerudder......
Only buy them once a year so I never remember until I pull one to look

One plugs porcelain looks busted off and running hotter or leaner vs the others. I would question the fuel air ratio at each cylinder not the overall. Looks like you need hotter plugs. Is there any word about that intake not flowing equal amounts per runner? Got an idea (this always includes money) go to MPFI and and tune each cylinder. What was the 2 to 3 shift rpm?

Russ....correction on last nights post, hope i didn't offend, you want number 1 and i'll take number 2 on the FTE A.D.D. club member list?
I just completed the deal with that crap 427 block, I added a 391 crank and 427 flywheel, in return buyer paid me $1,600. Live and learn or is it love and learn or love and hate or love and war? I had love (stupid me) and war before.

That video sucks but the audio kicks ***. Sounds very nice going down the track.

I'd try one or 2 step hotter plug. They don't 'look' like they should be dropping that much power but a new set will tell the tale.

Really rich looking plugs on the back side, darn near fouled. Need to lean it a bit, or hotter plug to fire it. Looks like #8 in chipped @ 3 o'clock?

Looking at the A/F....it's going lean at upper rpm? Why are the plugs black?
Am I thinking right? lower number=lean? Since it was running rich on the way over(under 3000 rpm you are in high side), so the plugs got fouled getting there and in turn did not clean up enough to burn well on dyno?

Maybe a set of plugs installed there would have helped some? Not corrected the problem, but made a better pull.

14.0 is ideal. Higher is lean lower is rich.

Alright then..... It's running lean on lower, rich at top end. Thus fouling the plugs in the back end of motor. How's the carb jetted?

I have buddies running Port-O-sonic's on 460 motors and they welded "bat wings" in bottom of plenum to help with fuel distribution. Helped drastically, and I think the manifold comes that way now(been like 10 yrs ago).

The dyno techs though my A/F was right on target for my comp ratio. He didn't think the carb needed much adjustment at all.

I kinda agree with Larry though. My A/F usually reads a little rich when just putting around town. Maybe I need to leab out the primaries a little.

So, what's a hotter plug? I'm still confused about which part number to get.

here's Keith Craft's recommendation on plugs:

Spark Plug Recommendations

All aluminum heads require a gasket seat style plug -- long reach
Comp ratios up to 14 to 1 -- Champion C57C

whaddaya think?

Hey, I didn't see that Freightrain! Oh well.

All those plugs look like it's running rich to me. Some just more than others. I'd drop the secondaries down a jet or two and leave the primaries alone. IMO they should look like the first one down on the right (not the top one on the right, go down one on the left row) with the grounding strap a little lighter.

What carburetor are you running on that thing again? Is it a vacuum secondary or not? If it was, I'd say the secondaries are kicking in around or a hair before 4000rpm's and richening it up too much. If it's a mechanical linkage double-pumper type carb, then never mind!

Are the plugs in any particular order in those pictures?

Edit: Oops! I meant right row of plugs above! Sorry! Attempting to edit...
