Rear Wiper Blues

I'm hoping it's gunna be another "FTE to rescue" kinda thing.

Read through most of the threads regarding the problems with the rear wiper on Expy's. Mine is a '99 XLT. The rear wiper died like so many others....more and more intermintant and then just died.

A while back I checked the two relays under the hood next to the larger fuse/relay panel and they were clicking like they should. Finally purchased a replacement motor and went after it tonight. Replaced the motor and still no workie!!!! %#$&*# So I start to check things out and now I'm not hearing the relays click. I pulled 'em out and tested them; they work just fine.

Is there a way to check the switch in the TS arm? All other functions of the TS arm work (WS wiper, rear squirter, TSs, etc). I also checked all fuses with a light. I didn't find any that were blown, however I did come across several in a column that were not energized at all. Is that normal? Unfortunetly I don't have a manual that tells me what the fuses are.
What else can I check to further troubleshoot this circuit? I have the auto parts store getting me another reman motor, but I'd like some input.

Thanks in advance!

p.s. After this one, we'll discuss the "low washer fluid" indicator thats always on, the ABS indicator intermintantly coming on, and the odometer fading and cutting out occasionally. Don't get me wrong, I (and my family) love our Expy and I've been a Ford driver since about '92!

I have same problem with wiper. If I move it manually onto window it works sometimes, or makes a strange noise. My odometer does the same thing too. 106325 miles on my rig

Yeah, my rig has 97,000 and change on it. Have no plans on replacing it. Lots cheaper to fix these little problems than buy a new(er) rig.

OK....what fuse is the rear wiper connected to? I ohmed-out the replacement motor and it's good but it still doesn't work. Arghg.

This might seem like a dumb question, but are you sure the wiper motor isn't turning? If the nut holding the wiper arm isn't tight enough, or the teeth on the shaft are stripped, it can slip. I was surprised how quiet the motor is with no arm attached. When I replaced mine I turned it on before putting everything back together just to make sure it was working and at first thought it wasn't because I didn't hear the motor.

Assuming it is, I'd start looking at the switch that prevents the wiper from working if the door is open. I think there are two, one on the glass latch and one on the door latch.

Yeah, Jay I had put the wiper arm back on before testing. I did wonder about a switch that would prevent the motor from working if the door was up and tested with the door closed too. Tonight I'm going to test and see if the relay module under the hood is getting any signal from the switch.

Next question: Is the TS and it's functions connected through some sort of "power control module" that might possibly be bad.?
