i have a question on my 76 F-250 I have twin tanks well there is the switch on the heater/ac controls for the tanks and it has a small wiring harness that runs down it has a plug with 2 green wires red stripe, and then one with orange wires where do they go ? This is is all I need to get the truck started as I dont wnat to croiss wire anything. I ordered a manual for ym truck but it hasnt arrived in the mail yet.
can someone show me please how the wiring goes for the twintanks from the switch to the main harness i know one plug is for the fuel gauge and one for the tanks themselves.
one wire the positive wire goes to the fuel selector valve under the truck on the drivers side the other two wires are sending wires and head to each sending unit on the tank
I dont understand? my switch has a wiring harness that runs from it, with 2 big plugs, one wth 2 greenwires red stripes, 1 with 3 or 4 orange wires, well it plugs into the main harness i know and the main harness has 1 plug 2 orange wires and 1 plug 2 green wires red stripes, this is a 76 f-250.i jsut dont wnat to mess it up.
ok i got that figured out but i have 2 extra wires coming from the harness both breen/grey they look like one has a red female end the other a grey female end plug where do those go?
I have a 78 f250 with twin tanks also. I've got my dash apart to rebuild the inst. cluster and install a CD player. When I get home, I'll look at the wiring and post my findings. Might be later tonite, though.
thanks i appreciate that those 2 wires have me baffled, I was wondering how did you install a cd player in your dash did you have to do any cutting or jsut modify the radio/heater bracket? and how did you wire it, to the fuse box?
I don't know if this will help as my switch has just one plug going to it. My plug has five wires in it, three on the left side and two on the right (looking at the connector side). Three wires from top to bottom are-light blue, orange, green/red stripe. Two wires top to bottom-brown/white stripe, red. All the wires go straight into the harness in the dash so I can't tell you where they go from there. The Chilton manual that I have only shows an orange wire from the fuse block going to the fuel solenoid. hope this helps. As far as the CD -yeah, Ihad to modify the control bracket with a new bottom half to fit my radio. I made it out of sheet alumnium and braced it to the ashtray bracket.
