Exhaust Idea

Would this be quite plausable to execute?:

I live in a highly restrictive emissions area and I had this zany idea that I could possible cut the whole exhaust off (in one piece) at either between the first and second cat, or before the first cat. I could remove the whole stock section of exhaust pipage in one piece and put it away in the garage for storage for later. Then I could custom build a straight pipe (or maybe with a glass pack) exhaust section to install in place, and have it connect the vehicle using a clamp.
When the time comes around for emission's inspections (my next should be in 2007), I can disconnect the clamp, pull out my custom exhaust section, and re-install the entire stock exhaust section and clamp it down. Once inspection is done, swap back to custom

I would imagine you could do that, the only thing i would be concerned with is one....and exhaust leak from the clamp you know?...and two how are you gonna bracket this up to keep stable and then be able to take it off if you want, cause remember the factory exhaust will run all the way to the back and its kinda ackward, you gotta find a way to do that, but other than that man go for it, let me know what you do and how it turns out good luck!

Just weld in a "Cut-Out" w/ a tubeattached to a Glass Pak before the 1st Cat & set it up so all you've to do is activate it to give you the original exhaust set-up.

Yeah, exhaust leak would indeed be quite cruel. I suppose I'd just keep the factory brackets as is for easy reinstallation.

LOL
Awesome idea! Only problem with this is that there are 2 pipes running into the first Cat, so I'd have to double up on the Cut-Out's!

Is there a place where that it's only a Single tube that you could attach one, w/ room to do it of course?

Hmmm...I think only after the first cat.

I would really like to get my truck on a lift so I could take digital pictures of the bottom of my truck to study and take measurements and test fit different things.
