Question 400 / 351m tranny

Here's my dilema .....I have a '51 merc that I am trying to shoehorn a 400 from a '75 LTD into. All is well , as I am now putting on some Aussie heads, and 4 bbl intake , etc. My problem is trying to find a 4 speed to bolt up. I have a C-6 with 26k on it , but really want a standard "baddly" . I realize there is no car with a manual tranny that came with a 351m or 400 , but know there were many 2 & 4wd ford trucks that did. Here are my questions. I can use a bell housing from a 351m/400/429/460 ..........but must have the flywheel/clutch from a 351m/400 ?? Are the two flywheels the same on the 351m & 400? I believe I read there are two different clutch sizes, with the 400 being larger?
So , what I'm asking is : can I bolt up any bellhousing/flywheel/clutch from a 351m OR a 400 , to my 400??

Clutch

I made this switch your talking about, I went from a C6 to T18, the flywheel I used would accept either clutch,(flywheel same dia. on 351or 400) it was drilled for 10" or 11" clutch, and I used the 11" in the 351M. It wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion on this forum, This is the only time I've did this, so I'm not sure if all the flywheels have this option.
