brace notching for header install

brace notching for header install
im installing my headers and ran into a prob. The install was easier than I expected. had to remove starter and brace. Everything went in suprisingly easy. But when putting the brace back in the header tubes are to big for it to go back in. What I need to know is will it be ok if I notch the brace for the tubes to fit. Will probably have to take out about an inch or so. That shouldnt weaken it to much should it?
