I am getting heavy vibration now it seems from underneath when I power up or start off ...I was told a ways back my CV joint was going ...I was told it just as cheap and as easy to replace the whole driveshaft is this true and this is a dumb question I guess but any question is ok I guess lol ...Is it just the 4 bolt on the back and the front to replace the shaft ....They look like they are a different kind nut though is there a special socket I need ...TR
If you're going to replace the drive shaft then I would recommend buying a compatible one with u-joints. I did that with my 1989 B2 and am not sorry I bought it. The CV joints on drive shafts are a joke. The classic u-joints are the best way to go.
If you have a bone stock B2 the factory type shaft will be fine. I finally had to replace mine at 200,000 miles. They are not special bolts. They are 12 point heads, most wrenches are that. I think they were 13 mm.
On my '90 B2 my cv style shaft started going south at around 180K so I looked here in the forums and went with a total replacement shaft with u-joints. I am very glad I did! Even if you don't have a lift on your truck go with the driveshaft w/ u-joints...it's stronger and a lot less to worry about
Ya it was easy guy's only those bolts they were a bit tight but got it off ....I got a new one I am putting on tommorow I'll go cv again ....It'll be good enough for me I am not too hard on it ....Thanks ...Tony
Thanks Everyone For The Good Advice. After Having No Luck For Some Time, I Found Several Outfits That Will Sell Me An Upgraded U-joint Shaft For @ $150.00 Bolt In. Exactly What I Wanted At A Decent Price.

Great, could you share your info, PLease.... Thanks....
well if you go to a junkyard you could do it a little cheaper. You can get one off of a 84-85 BII the Drive-shaft to T-Case are 12 point 8 mm and the Drive-shaft to rear end are 12 point 13 mm. But you will also need the front mounting flange off of the T-Case and that is held on with a 32 mm.
Thank You for sharing that Info!!! I will definitely look for some at the junk yard. My CV driveshaft measured 31.75" roughly. I just found out that Napa's website is wrong, they cannot get the cardan style driveshaft. I called a place up in Kirkland, WA called Precision Driveshafts and they want $430.00 for a double cardan style. I'm sure it is quality but that is way expensive for me. Anyways, I'll keep this thread posted with my results. Thanks again dirtybroncoii.
