Too lean when cold
My 92 F150 with a 302 was like that and I posted questions on various forums about the cold fuel enrichment and never really got a answer but I found the problem,I thought I read that in order for the motor to have more fuel when cold the air from the smog pump is pumped in the heads to fool the computer that the motor is lean and make the mixture more rich. Well thats is correct as I had to replace the tube that goes from the divertor valve to the convertor and I checked the divertor valve to see if it worked and it did so I checked for vacumn with the motor running and I had none to the two solinoids that controll vacumn to the two ports on the divertor valve and I replaced the vacumn line from the reserve tank to the solinoids and now it runs good when cold. So if anyone has one that hesitates and does not run like it should when cold thats the first place to check and chances are its just a broke plastic vacumn line. Jeff
