Blasted Turn Signals!

I just bought my 77 F-150 a week ago. At first the dash lights did not work. After monkey'n around under the dash for a few hours I figured out how to get the dash and cluster unit off. I replaced the bulbs (except for the indicators on the outer sides; brake, etc). The lights worked but would go out, and would come on if I hit em. At this time I also noticed that the turn signals were solid instead of flashing, sometimes they would begin flashing after 10 seconds or so. So I took off the cluster again to discover that the walls off the plastic housing for the bulbs was crumbling. On first attempt I tried to solder a tac on one side of the bulb-holder thing to attach it to the circuit paper. After this didnt work I taped the lights down hoping they would make a solid contact. The next night I took my truck out and the dash lights wouldn't work at all. The turn signals do not flash. In the dash, the both signals light up with the opposite from normal light being brighter. The hazards won't flash, where as before they would become solid when braking (is that normal on these older trucks?).

Any ideas on what is going on?

I disconnected a harness under the dash that was attached to the driver side wall to get rid of that annoying buzzing sound, is there anything important in that harness?

I replaced the flasher before the second time around and it didn't seem to make a difference.

The buzzing is a warning device for seat belts.
No problem

Which flasher did you replace ?
There are two.
The one on the fuse box is for the hazard lights.
The Signal light flasher is up & under the dash on the far left side behind the headlight switch ,attached by a nub on the flasher housing.Try replacing this one instead

if your plastic white housing for the dashlights is falling apart. go to a junkyard and get one out of a ford van. they are the same up to 92, when ever the body style changed. i got one from my friends 89 van when he rolled it. the speedo looks alittle different.

if you want to disconenct that buzzing noise go behind the seat and look at the driver seatbelt buckle where it attaches to the floor. you will see a wire and a connection. take the connection out and no more buzzing
