painting tool box?

ok got a question for you guys. i have a 2001 f-150 sport and it is decked out with black. i have a alluminum tool box which came out of my old truck and it is not black and doesnt look right on the truck. i have been told that paint doesnt stick to alluminum very good so i was wondering if there are ways around this? and what all i could do to get it to stay black. and the tool box is not chrom, it is pollished i guess? there are pics in my gallary of the truck with the box on it. thanks for any help

Clean it, zinc chromate primer, and paint. But consider - the black tool box will make for some very hot tools in the summertime!

You should look into getting it powder coated.

the thing im lookin at right now is either to get mine painted or would it be less hassle to just by a new black tool box? and if i was to powdercoat how long would it last verses just taking my time and painting it myself?

If it were me, I would sell the one you have and buy an new black box. You should be able to get a DeeZee Competitor Series for $300. But if you have free time on your hands, then paint it yourself, that would be the cheaper route.

Looks like you have a diamond plate box so I'd have to agree with Blue SCab.

It is very hard to paint diamond plate and not miss spots.
