I have a 1950 F-2 that the body is in exceptionally good shape. The engine is locked up and needs totally rebuilt. I am wondering what to do with the truck. I am not one to build something and then let it sit. If I am going to own it I am going to use it. I would like to keep it all original but cannot bring myself to onyl being able to go 50 with a shimmy.(haha)
I have a perkins 6cylinder with a blower that is begging me to put it in a pickup. I am thinking that if I go diesel I about as well go 4x4.
Is there any new truck frame that will let me sit the 50 body on it fairly easily?
I suppose I could use the frame that is there and box it an do a bunch of other work but if there is a 3/4 or 1 ton frame out there that is close I would rather use it.
Let me hear your suggestions. Thanks Jake
A guy up the road from me dropped a 51 cab and bed on a post 2000 Ford Lightning Pick-up frame. I need to follow-up with him and ask how it turned out. Not many folks on here install these cabs and beds on more modern frames but it can and has been done.
70's f250 shortbox is about the same wheelbase, just need to fab the body mounts and the axles will end up wider, unless ya swap 67-72 axles underneath. I had all this info stored in a four-wheeler mag, but I can't seem to find it yet.
