I have a 2002 F250, 7.3, King cab 4x4, 40,000 miles, no mod except a K & N air filter. I happen to be a long way from home now, so someone else is taking care of my ride. The problem is this, the turbo went out on it. A friend took it into the dealer, and he says the K&N is "dusting" the engine. He said that is why the turbo went out. I know a lot of people run them, but I have never heard of this. Is someone just yanking my chain?
ais is best... the wix 46637 from fleetfilter.com is know as the "kwikfilter" and is much less expensive... flows TONS of air... and filters real good... the AIS definately filters better but is a little restrictive so you have to add the fender mod to it...
Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts WVMiles. We're happy you've chosen the best source for Fords.
The K&N panel replacement can be made to work ok, but they are high maintenance. If you are far enough away from home that someone else is taking care of your rig (sounds like a deployment to me), then the best bet is to put it back to stock until you can hook it up right.
Cookie 88, you are correct with the deployment guess. I thought I did enough research before putting on the K&N, but I still cannot believe it killed my turbo in less than 10,000 miles. I will jut go to stock until I return.
