Retarding timing and mileage
I'm trying to squeeze every mpg out of my 390 I've got in my 75 f250. The engine is slightly hopped up and I had it set and 12 btdc and 38 total which the engine is really happy at. If I retarded it to somthing like 8btdc (I think the book calls for 6) will that improve my gas mileage or was that originally just for emissions? Thanks guys.

Yea, I thought it might just be emissions so I'll leave it at 12. I'll lean it out a bit tho, I have it fat for power but these gas prices are killing me!
