Here's the deal
I've got a 96 ranger 4.0 5spd, 4x4. When i start the truck it idles rough for a couple of seconds, but when it get up and going it's fine. I'll run it upt to normal temp and then the temp starts jumping up and down. Cruising down the road at 65 in 5th the temp guage goes up almost to hot. But as I slow down or down shift it goes back down. It's been doing this for about two weeks now. It's not 95 degrees 75% humidity in Iowa anymore so i don't run the AC, and the coolant is good. What could be wrong? if anything
Thanks
Assuming you have no trapped air in the system, it's most likely the thermostat or the temp gauge sender. My former 94 4.0 digested about four senders over the time I had it.
