got a 2005 CC 4x4 6.0 long bed. I have just added a topper and after driving in the rain saturday I opened the topper and found water/grit/grime got everywhere inside the bed near the right and left sides. Upon review, the water/dirt is coming from a couple plastic fitted holes (seems they are from the bed caps) from on top of the bed lip. Does Ford sell a fitting to close these up? Should I just duct tape them closed?
If you're talking about the three (on each side) squarish opening (stake pockets) in the bed rails, the trucks normally come with covers. If your's are missing, you can find them from the dealer or possibly on ebay.
Also, my topper has a very wide strip of padding that appears to be foam core with a plastic "shrink wrap" type outer layer - it is 1" thick (uncompressed) overall. I assume this helps keep out water, wind and dirt. I know I've never had a problem (I've even slept in the back while hunting a few times and it was really pretty nice).
was going to post the same question. i have a automatic rolling bed cover and i get leaks in the same areas that was mentioned, at the squarish places in the bed. thank you for asking the question and for the response to the question.
once i find them and put them on i wont have to worry about cleaning the bed of my truck all the time.
