I've got an 85 F150 that i converted to mass air flow using an a9p computer out of a mustang, put in a cam, and 24 lb/hr injectors. I"m eventually planning on having the diablo chip that i got for my ranger reprogrammed for the a9p and was wondering if i need to have a recalibrated MAF, or if you can just program the chip for the new 24 lb/hr injectors, so i can use my stock MAF?
Bumping doesn't get our attention any faster.... we have a limited amount of time each day to answer forum questions and answer them all as time allows.
If the MAF is the MAF that came with the computer setup then you will not need it calibrated. Its a matter of loading up the injector tables for the 24lb/hr injectors, along with the other tune changes. However, on the custom sheet we'd need to know about the MAF anways, and I recommend you get the a/f ratio checked out after the tune is done just to make sure.
Thanks sorry about the bump thing, I would have only typed it once, but you need 10 characters to send a message and i couldnt think of anything else to say. I also posted it 2 days ago and saw some good deals on Ebay and didnt want to jump on them without knowing the answer to this question. So thank you, you saved me probably 100$ or more. Yes, its a MAF out of a 96 F150 (yes, came out of an EEC V hope it will still work). What Info do you need off of the sensor? The part number? or the computer it came off? That way i'll know when i send it in. Thank you again.
Mixing MAFs from one application to another can be tricky, the transfer function needs to be correct. Is it running good enough now to put on a dyno with a wideband O2 sensor to get an air/fuel chart?
Once i get my oil pump back in it will be lol, but the only problem would be trying to find a dyno in this area. I'm not even sure there's a drag strip within 50 miles. I know its definantly running rich due to excessive fuel consumption, and black tailpipes, but it runs good enough to drive around.
