Steering Conversion

I'm looking for any websites or basically any information about changing the inverted y steering to the inverted t on my 77 f150. I'm hoping that someone has an aftermarket kit for this conversion. I've been through the local junkyards, but unfortunately everything is pretty much ravaged. Apparently this is a necessity to lift my truck, properly anyway. Any information is welcome. Thanks!

i went through this conversion myself, you need the drag link, and pitman arm, and the long tie rod end that goes between the wheels. pretty simple swap. i used all new parts. and the truck handles a lot better now. mudder trucker.

Did you just get the parts from your local parts store? I think I need the steering components from a 78 or 79 f150. How expensive was it?

I bought all these parts when I converted my '74 to an integral steering box. Drag link and all the tie rod parts came to $300, but I insisted on using all Moog brand parts. Pitman arms are tougher to come by because you can't just go out and buy one. I see them on ebay now and then.

If you are going to lift the truck I would highly recommend the Superlift adjustable drag link. Without it the steering box may not be centered when the wheels are straight. This is important because the center position is where there is the least play in the steering box, and where it should be when you are at highway speeds.

Depending on the amount of lift you may also need the adjustable track bar. Above 4" you really should be thinking about these things, maybe even at 4" if you are a perfectionist.

i had a 4" lift on my 77f150. instead of the adjustable track bar i used a drop bracket off the frame with a drop pitman arm. but above 4" lift the adjustable track bar would be the better route like 74f1004x4 said. mudder trucker.
