This Ford is a 24 foot motorhome. It has a 460ci engine. It has spent alot of time idle. last time i drove it, it would barely run under load but seemed to idle fine. i replaced the Fuel tank selector valve thinking, this was gummed up and not operating right. the output of this valve is 5.5 PSI on a Fuel pressure Gauge. I cannot seem to get a reading at the new clear Fuel filter at the Carburetor. My question is, there is a T- looking device that the Fuel line from the tank Valve goes into, on the top the Fuel return line comes out and heads down. Then out of the other end a line continues on to the carburetor. What does this T do? I took it out cleaned it up with Carburetor cleaner inside and out. I tried blowing through it and only got air out the Fuel return port on top. I took it to my Parts store and could'nt find it in thier books, much less even a name for this device. I'm thinking this thing being plugged is the reason for the low Fuel flow. Any ideas what this thing does and should thier be less resistance through it? Sorry I'm so long winded just trying to include enough information.
What the T device is I do not know, a picture would help.
The death of many a Ford fuel pump is being left idle too long, I think yours has probably gone bad. I think the standard pressure that year is 6-8 psi, so yours is low. Plus, I would make sure it was not leaking into the crankcase. They cost between $16-$20.00
