Im lookin into a new exhaust setup on my 95 3.0 ranger, im not lookin to spend much. Im thinkin about replacing my muffler with a glasspack and then a side exhaust, does anyone have any ideas or comments?
I run two Thrush Magnum 25" glasspacks (2" ID) on my 2.3L Duratec, one behind the cat, one over/behind the rear axle. I like it, and it didn't cost much. Not much louder than stock, deep idle, nice top-end, and it sounds nothing like a ricer. Runs better, too. If your looking for some noise, a single glasspack would probably keep you happy. I wouldn't go shorter than a 25", and probably nothing larger than 2.25".
A good turbo muffler would allow you to run a civilized side-dump.
I've got 96 2wd with single in dual out with both pipes dumping stright out the back sounds prety good for the 3.0L. its a turbo muffler, local muffler man did it for $250. He also fixed my hack job when i removed the tranny. The bolts wouldnt come loose so i took a sawzall to the y pipe.
ive got01 ranger 4.0 and just put a gibson catback system on and i luv the increase in getty up.single in dual out, installed right to factory hangers, easy job. cost 'bout 300. the only thing i dont like is its not loud enough 4 me. louder than stock but not enough. thinking 'bout cutting out 1 of the cats. gibson rocks
I put on a 2.5 inch 40 series flowmaster out of the take off pyle at the muffler shop for $60 including installation. About a month later i cut of the tailpipe cause it wasn't loud enough and it sounds perfect now. I have a 2002 with a 3.0 and a 5 speed. It has 5 cats that cut down the sound so the tailpipe needed to be removed to decrease the back pressure for a better sound.
I have a '94 XLT 4.0L 5 speed and am looking for an inexpensive and decent way to make my truck a little louder. I'd like to impress some people if I rev it a little bit, but it be civilized, at least in the cab. Suggestions please?
