I have 2 light force lights on the bumper with a switch to the high beams. If i add 2 more lights to the set (so 4 on the bumper) will it blow the switch or fuse? How can I add the light with no porblems?
Sorry this isn't a diesel question but going on a 6.0l
Wire it fresh. You can use the same switch/activation circuit, but run a new power wire through a fuse and through a relay to the lamps. Wire is cheap, relays are cheap, connectors are cheap. Lamps are pricey, trucks are darm expensive if they burn.
Were the lights originally installed with their own relay and fuse? If you had two 100 watt lights which would pull about 16 amps, adding two more to this same circuit would push it to about 32 amps. If your existing Lightforce lights are wired to the stock lights, the stock highbeams are most likely 60 watts each, so another 10 amps for both highbeams. That would be 26 amps before adding two more lights on the bumper.
If the originally lights weren't installed on a relay with their own fuse or breaker, I would highly recommend installing them this way before adding more lights. Also be sure to use the right gauge wire.
