So I'm thinking about putting a 460 in my truck. I was talking to my neighbor and he said he received this oil pan that he got for free and he said if i can use it then i can for nothing. The only thing is that i have no idea what motor its from and the part number doesnt really match other fords. I know that this is probably not the right forum but i didnt know where else to put it. The part number goes.. 92TY 6675AA...........underneath that it says 10 25 96A.. thats all it says besides a ford stamp and some other weird symbol...please help me decode this. The oil pan has a total of 22 bolt holes, with the ones in the corners being larger, and it has a threaded dipstick hole in the side and it appears to be rear sump although not positive..I am also positive that it is NOT a 351m/400 pan..thanks for your help
I am dead positive that it is a 9 it is actually and exact upside down 6. Could it be that it is from a 92? Mil1ion...what makes you think that it is from van? if its for a 460 that would be amazing...i do believe it to be rear sump as the is the provision for the dipstick
Thay PN is close to impossible to have. Going backwards, decoding the first 4 code numbers/letters, the Y means it's a Lincoln/Mercury service part, the T means it's a truck part, and the 2 means it's either a '42, '52, '62, '72, '82, '92, or '02, and the 9 don't work. Now, just the T and Y together sends up a red flag, but, to factor in the fact that the 460's only came in trucks from '75 to about '97 narrows it down to either a '82 or '92 part. Now, Lincoln/Mercury would have nothing to do with 460 oil pans in '92, so IF all but the 9 was correct, the pan would be an '82 pan.
I would take the pan to a salvage yard or Ford dealer and see if they will check to see what the 6675AA means. That code will tell you the application ei, 460, 302, 400, ect...
Mil1ion...what makes you think that it is from van?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because they didn't put 460's in 4x4's (which would require a rear sump pan if they did) but they did put 460's in Vans which have a rear sump pan ,Plus, the dipstick is on the side.
Remembering though, this is a SERVICE part.
The Y doesn't mean a Lincoln/Mercury service part .
It means it is a General Service part.
It also doesn't mean what the Part Number is.
It can be the identification number.
Ford is well known for this.
Actual part number is Different than the sticker (ID) number
If it was a 92 it would read F2YE not 92.
If it is an 82 it would read E2YE
I already stated what the last part of the number stated was.
It's an OIL PAN and the application to what engine it goes to.
