Dave, did you try zooming in on Manitoulin Island manually and looking for your community? It shows quite a few small communities there, and sometimes I've found places that way that didn't come up with the search function.

Yep, it does that. Then I discovered when I backspaced over the "incorrect" city (I was trying various permutations of newcastle, Newcastle On Tyne, ..Upon Tyne etc etc) that it has a popup in there that you can scroll up and down. I even found my town, Wallsend, was on the list.
Go back and try again; when it tells you the place doesn't exist, backspace over what you typed and watch carefully, you'll see the list pop up.
Not the most user friendly thing to do, I must have been trying off and on for months!
