wheel bearing cups

I just put my 72 swb onto a 78 f150 4x4 frame. Now I'm going over the drivetrain to get ready to test drive.
I removed the wheel bearings and hub assembly and the cups or races seem to be sloppy. I can insert my finger and spin the cup freely inside the hub. I never had a 73-79 truck, but many 67-72.
Are the cups supposed to be this sloppy or did they wear down, or did somebody install the wrong ones?
I'm ready to drive this beast! Any help is much appreciated! john

No the races should not be that sloppy inside the hub. As loose as you are describing it makes it sound like you need a new hub.

You can ***** punch the inside of the hub then drive the races back in, that will buy you some time.
