Need help with funny idle problem???
Hello all,
First time posting on the site! Want to run this one by everyone as it has been bothering me with my 00' F250 and the guy who works with me on his 02' F250! On some mornings (can't notice any sort of pattern yet?) I start the truck and it appears to not know how to idle. I have to hold down the gas to keep it at idle for a while until it "remembers" how to idle. If I let up on the gas it just dies. After a while of doing this it will idle right but I assume the problem will get worse? I have tried injector cleaner and that did not make any difference. When it goes to the garage they don't know unless it does it for them! I am stumped any help would be appreciated! The truck is a 5.4L with an auto trans.

Replace the Idle Air Control valve. Cheap and easy.
Here's a pic of it, it sits on the passenger rear of the throttle body. $54.

Will not idle during a cold start up
Hey guys I've got a 1999 F150 with a 4.6L V-8 in it. The problem I'm having is that during a cool startup the truck will fire but it won't idle and if it does idle whjen i put it into gear it just dies. Any sugestions to what it might be?
